PROCRASTINATION

Proverbs 27:1 NAS
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Procrastination. Putting off something we really don't want to do or face. Maybe it's not wanting to tell your husband you backed your new car into a post and put a dent in the bumper. He's going to find out sooner or later and sooner is much better. Get it out of the way. A sigh of relief. You feel better.

My husband came home the other night and told me a story about a lady that had heart problems. She had a pacemaker but was having problems. Her family finally convinced her she needed to go to the doctor. Upon checking her they found a problem with her pacemaker and immediately put her in the hospital to correct it. She told her family there's no need to come to the hospital and sit around. It's a short procedure, in and out in a day. Something went wrong and she died on the table. There was no one there to tell the sad news to. Would someone have come and sat if they had known there was a risk? Did they put it off, think it was nothing, she'll be home, and I'll go by and see her later?

This brings to mind putting off sharing the Bible with others. There have been times I should have, could have, shared Jesus's love with a friend or stranger, but I did not. I procrastinated.

God does not procrastinate when it comes to loving us. He waits for us to come to Him. We are the ones that put off to tomorrow instead of doing today. Don't let another day go by without asking Jesus to take control of your life, to live in your heart now. Seek His forgiveness.

Dear Heavenly Father please help me to not put off until tomorrow what I need to do today. Amen.
